Agreement for the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area (ACCOBAMS)<\/a><\/h3>\n

KYMA sea conservation & research is a partner organisation of the conservation agreement and contributes data on both the distribution of whales and dolphins and the pollution of their habitat with plastic.<\/p>\n

Over 25’000 scientists from 180 countries have joined forces to send a warning to humanity. It describes the consequences of climate change and calls for six concrete steps to be taken to mitigate them. KYMA sea conservation & research Marine conservation biologist, Silvia Frey, is a member of the Alliance and has signed the publication.<\/p>\n

Global movement of more than 11,000 organisations and individual supporters working for a future free from plastic pollution. The movement calls for a massive reduction in the use of single-use plastics and is committed to push for lasting solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. The coalition of European animal welfare organisations and wildlife experts seeks to eliminate the keeping of cetaceans in captivity in Europe, whilst striving towards greater protection for those still held captive through investigation, advocacy and education. Members of the coalition share the position that wild animals should not be exploited for human entertainment. KYMA sea conservation & research is a member and Silvia Frey is part of the coalition’s management committee.<\/p>\n

Ocean for Ecocide Law<\/a><\/h3>\n

In 2023, the organisation Stop Ecocide International founded the Ocean for Ecocide Law network, which campaigns for international recognition of the term “ecocide” in order to create a legal framework for improved protection of the flora and fauna of the oceans. KYMA sea conservation & research is part of this international network.<\/p>\n
